The University has a message for all the graduates of the Class of 2020 and for master’s and doctoral graduates of the Class of 2021, all of whom were shut out of an in-person Commencement because of the pandemic:

Save the date of Sunday, May 22, 2022. That’s when Penn will honor those alumni with an in-person ceremony on Franklin Field, starting at 10 a.m., six days after the Class of 2022 has its big moment on May 16.

“Throughout the pandemic, our students worked hard and persevered with grace—and now we will honor their tenacity and wisdom by holding the graduation they so richly deserve,” President Gutmann and senior leadership wrote in a November statement. “We are pleased to celebrate their distinguished academic achievements as we join their friends and family on Franklin Field to honor their resilience and patience with a very special one-of-a-kind celebration.”

Registration will be required, and more details about the event will be available at http://www.alumni.upenn.edu/2020grad2021.
