It is not in fact capable of interstellar travel, but the new Robert I. Schattner Clinic is a flagship of a different sort for the Dental School. This 10,000-square-foot space has been the hub of clinical instruction since the Evans Building opened in 1915, but a renovation has transformed it in sleek, space-age style. Made possible by a $15 million gift from Schattner D’48 before his death last year [“Obituaries,” May|June 2017], the overhaul includes 74 state-of-the-art chairs, which can accommodate patients in wheelchairs and weighing up to 650 pounds.
