Students from Penn and nearby Drexel University paid $25 to participate in the Ultimate Collegiate Cupcake Decorating Competition, held in Houston Hall back in February. Photographer—and Gazetteintern—Maanvi Singh got the, um, sweet assignment to go and check out the entries.

Proceeds from the contest—hosted by Cream & Sugar, a coffee and sweet shop at 40th and Spruce streets, and co-sponsored by the Penn student food-magazine, Penn Appétit; the Undergraduate Assembly; and Drexel’s Residence Hall Association—went to support “continued food deliveries to families at the Ronald McDonald House,” according to Cream & Sugar’s “Viral Marketing Lead,” Lawrence Mahoney-Jones.

The winner was a triceratops-topped creation by College students Claire Masteller and Hannah Commons, The Daily Pennsylvanian reportedNo word on how quickly it and the other entries became extinct after the contest.
