Franklin Field was the location for this background scene from the film Attack of the Balloon People—actually, Invincible, an inspirational sports-story starring Mark Wahlberg and based on the true tale of Vince Papale, a fan who went to an open tryout for the Philadelphia Eagles and wound up making the team in the 1970s. Last summer, thousands of dummies were inflated and dressed-up to stand in for a game-day crowd. The film, to be released in 2006, also boasts a less-lightweight Penn connection: Alumna Elizabeth Banks C’96 co-stars.
