Penn took fifth place in the latest college rankings by U.S. News and World Report, sharing that spot with three other universities—Duke, Stanford, and Caltech.

The top-ranked institutions include Harvard and Princeton, tied for the first place, followed by Yale in third, and MIT in fourth. Among other Ivies, Dartmouth, Cornell, Columbia, and Brown came in 9th, 11th, 14th, and 17th places, respectively. According to the report, published in the September 1 issue, the rankings are based on how the schools measure in “up to 15 indicators of academic quality,” including peer assessment, selectivity, graduation rate, student-faculty ratio, standardized test scores, financial resources, and alumni giving. In other rankings, Wharton was named the top undergraduate business school by U.S. News. Wharton also took first place in a survey by The Wall Street Journal and Harris Interactive of national and international MBA programs.
