Las Vegas. We are excited to throw the first-ever satellite Spring Fling the weekend of April 25 in Las Vegas. Metro New Jersey. The Club is hosting its Performing Arts Event in Bergen County on Fri., March 28, at 7:30pm; details to come. On Thurs., April 3, Amy Smith from the Penn Admissions Office will join us for our Selective College Admissions Night at the Millburn Library. High-school students and their parents are invited. This event is open to club members only. On Fri., April 4, at noon, we will learn Krav Maga, self-defense techniques used by the Israeli Armed Forces, in Millburn. A light lunch will follow. On Tues., April 29, along with the Wharton Club of New Jersey, we will host our annual joint event: Professor Peter Fader will speak about his recent book Customer Centricity: Focus on the Right Customers for Strategic Advantage and discuss this emerging business model. Philadelphia. Join us for a dinner experience at Victor Cafe, where the wait-staff also sing opera, on Thurs., March 27, at 6pm. Our lecture-series dinner will feature guest speaker Brooke McCorkle, Penn PhD student in musicology, concentrating in opera. Check www.pennclubphilly.org for more details. On Sat., March 29, 9:45am, join us for a look at the history and food of Reading Terminal Market, with a guided 75-minute walking tour. We will learn from a food writer and have a few small tastes while we walk around. $14 for members, $20 for non-members. We volunteer at the Penn Vet Working Dog Center on Fri., April 4, 5—6:30pm. Volunteers will participate in various activities such as a dog walk, helping with end-of-week chores—and possibly puppy baths!

Phoenix. Don’t miss our exciting Saturday evening Coyotes vs. Bruins hockey event, with special club pricing, on March 22! This event will fill up fast, so sign up now. Don’t forget to also sign up for our 2nd Annual Ivy Golf Tournament to be held on Sat., April 5, at the award-winning Rancho Manana Golf Club in Cave Creek, with cocktails and dinner afterwards at the on-site restaurant, Tonto Bar and Grill. San Diego. The wine tour in Valle de Guadalupe was such a success, we are organizing another day trip with Turista Libre on Sat., March 22. This includes private transportation while in Tijuana, food at three taqueries, and an artisan ice-cream dessert at Tepoznieves. Tickets are $55 and payment is due ASAP. We are also heading to the National Comedy Theater (3717 India Street) on Sat., April 5, 7:30pm. Tickets are $15. We will gather for dinner before the show at Shakespeare’s Pub. Healthy Cities/Healthy Women
Philadelphia

HEALTHY CITIES: HEALTHY WOMEN The Global Future will be the culminating event in a series after traveling to Miami, New York, Los Angeles, London, and Washington. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experts and leaders in urbanization, women’s health, public health, and the built environment, as well as the inaugural recipient of the Penn Nursing Renfield Foundation Award for Global Women’s Health. The award raises awareness of global women’s health issues by honoring a demonstrated leader in improving the lives of women and supporting their ongoing efforts with a $100,000 cash prize.

Location: Zellerbach Theater, Annenberg Center for Performing Arts, 3680 Walnut St, Philadelphia
Participants: Health practitioners, urban planners, and advocates, and activists from across disciplines who are concerned about women’s issues and urban-public health. Over 1,200 individuals have attended our previous HEALTHY CITIES: HEALTHY WOMEN conferences.
Goal: Recognizing the unique challenges and key roles that women play in maintaining good health practices in an increasingly urban world, the event will:

— share thought leadership and best practices in health care and urban design
— spotlight issues that impact urban health such as transportation, violence and access to services
— provide practical solutions to improve health through improving the built environment
— identify ways to build and sustain a healthy life cycle within a healthier urban community

HEALTHY CITIES: HEALTHY WOMEN sponsors have included the BlackRock Women’s Initiative Network, CIGNA, Morgan Stanley, UCLA School of Nursing, King’s College London Florence Nightingale School of Midwifery and Nursing, and The Clark Foundation. Conference speakers have included Nicholas Kristof, New York Times columnist and two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning author; Susan Blumenthal, MD, MPA, Former US Assistant Surgeon General and First Deputy Asst Secretary for Women’s Health; The Honorable Marjorie O. Rendell, Federal Judge and former First Lady of Pennsylvania; and Dr. Marie Savard, author and former health correspondent for Good Morning America.

The series has also engaged non-profit partners working to make an impact in urban women’s health as part of the community-impact area. Past partners have included the American Red Cross, GirlTrek, the YWCA, and CARE.
