1940s

George C. Liacouras, W’43, and his wife, Effie Roebas Liacouras, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 17. They were joined on that occasion by their three children (including Marina Liacouras Phillips, CW’74), three grandchildren, and 100 friends and relations who gathered to honor that special event.

1950s

Ronald Wilner, W’53, a media consultant, is still actively writing and directing commercials for political candidates. Most recently, this included producing the television and radio ads for the winning campaign of Jim Gilmore, who was elected governor of Virginia in November.

1960s

Robert M. Rosenthal, W’60, has been appointed to the California State Athletic Commission. The commission regulates the sport of boxing in California. Robert is also on the board of Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel, the U.S. team committee for the Maccabi games held every four years in Israel.

Jere Blackwelder, C’63, College Station, Tex., writes that his wife, Dr. Julia Kirk BlackwelderCW’64, in October had a new book, Now Hiring: The Feminization of Work in the United States, 1900-1995, published by Texas A&M Univeristy Press. She is a professor and department head of history at A&M. 

Richard Romney, C’64, is in the middle of his second year as managing partner of the Warsaw office of the New York City-based international law firm, Dewey Ballantine. “It is a most interesting time to be an American lawyer in this country. Poland truly is making history in the speed and singlemindedness of purpose with which it is transitioning into the Western community of free nations with market-based economies.”

Richard H. Eggleston III, C’65, New York City, a program analyst for the IRS, married Patricia Boyle Eggleston in September.

Ellen Isenstein, CW’65, was recently appointed director of the library of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She had been acting director, and earlier, associate librarian.

Laurie Burrows Grad, CW’66, has just written her fourth cookbook, Entertaining Light & Easy, published by Simon & Schuster. She is also the restaurant columnist for Buzzmagazine in Los Angeles and lives there with her husband, Peter Grad, W’62. Their son, Nicholas Grad, C’93, is now director of television development for Columbia/Tri-Star Television.

Naomi Lee Bloom, CW’67, Fairfax, Va., [email protected], e-mails that after 20 years outside Washington, she and her husband (of 25 years) are both moving to Fort Myers, Fla., at the end of this year. Her husband, Ron Wallace, will leave his position as mission director for search and rescue at NASA as part of this move, while she relocates her management-consulting practice in favor of a warmer climate. “My friends from Penn may be interested to know that I’ve been licensing a model I developed of the human resource management (HRM) business domain to many major providers of HRM software (e.g., Cyborg and Meta4) as the basis for next generation HRM products. The adventure continues.”

Mark Ellman, C’67, married Nancy Ann Lieberman in October. He heads the Celestial Capital Group, a commercial real estate company in New York City.

Dr. Richard J. Estes, SW’67, professor of social work at the University, has been awarded both the International Rhoda G. Sarnat Prize of the National Association of Social Workers and the Best Research Article for 1996 Award from the International Society for Quality of Life Studies. Dr. Estes will use the money awarded by the Sarnat Prize to support his continuing work with the Montreal-based International Bureau of Child Rights, an agency seeking to expose the growing network of organizations that engage in the international trafficking of children for sex.

1970s

Dr. Arnold R. Eiser, C’70, and his family have relocated to Chicago and Wilmette, Ill. In July he became chief of general internal medicine and professor of medicine at the College of Medicine, University of Illinois at Chicago. He is also a bioethicist affiliated with the Hastings Center.

Howard Brod Brownstein, C/W’71, is “playing Mr. Mom to three semi-alien kids who live with me, finding myself oddly single after all these years.” In his spare time he is managing director of Executive Sounding Board Associates, Inc., a turnaround and crisis-management firm headquar- tered in Philadelphia — “as if I didn’t have enough crises of my own, I have to stick my nose into other people’s! Actually it’s great fun, and a recent engagement won ‘Turnaround of the Year’ from our professional association. Dating in the ’90s is weird: ‘What’s your major?’ no longer works.”

Susan Katz Larsson, CW’72, [email protected], works as a translator from Swedish to English, telecommuting to agencies both in Sweden and major U.S. cities. Her husband, Dr. Charles Larsson, C’70, is a family physician here in the tiny town of LaConner, Wash., where they have lived for 12 years. Their two sons are in Seattle: Erik studying linguistics at the University of Washington and Daniel studying computer animation and multimedia at the Art Institute of Seattle. Amanda is in sixth grade here. They spend their summers in Sweden, where they lived for 11 years during the ’70s and early ’80s. “I’d love to hear from old friends.”

Nathan Sturman, C’72, G’75, is a lecturer at Gunma National University in Maebashi, Japan, where he teaches ESL to undergraduates in the Faculty of Social Information. He is married to Masako Imai, who fondly remembers the time she spent in the Penn community; their daughter, Naomi, is 12 years old and in her last year of grade school. They live in Gunma Town, near both Takasaki and Maebashi, about 160km from Tokyo. Nathan worked for Oki Electric Industries as a full-time instructor for several years in the late 1980s and early ’90s, before returning to Gunma University. He continues his study of Chinese history and literature; “surprisingly, I have a taste for the Confucian classics and the Zhu Xi school at that.” And every year he gives an orientation in a sinological seminar on ancient Chinese reference materials and the use of the four-corner classification system. His “lifelong interest in aviation has led me to some interesting things. I design flying scale models of historic aircraft, and efforts have resulted in popular model kits and magazine plans as well.”

Dr. Marsha T. Wallace, CW’72, associate professor of medicine at George Washington University Hospital, was recently elected to the board of the Chronic Fatigue Association of America. She has been in private practice in internal medicine in Washington, D.C., for 18 years and has developed a special interest in treating patients with Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome. In her “spare” time, she chairs the Rescue Network of the English Cocker Spaniel Club of America. And she shares her home in Alexandria, Va., with her three English cocker spaniels, two of which are retired show champions.

Paul Kazaras, C’74, and Sharon Kazaras, CW’74, GEd’75, are “well and happy, living in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.” Paul is in his 20th year with the Philadelphia Bar Association and Sharon opened her own employee-benefits consulting practice in July. They have two daughters, Meredith (15) and Allison (13).

Sylvia Rhone, W’74, was recently awarded the Pioneer Award for Achievement in the Recording Industry by the International Achievement in Arts organization. Part of the prize awards a music scholarship to the university of her choice, and she chose Penn. 

Dr. Lester Paul Salwen, C’74, M’80, [email protected], is a gastroenterologist in private practice in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. His wife, Dr. Ruth S. Spector, W’82, is an attending anesthesiologist at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. They have two children, Sydnie Brook and Cooper Philip, and have just moved to Lake Success.

Eric J. Miller, W’76, was elected president of Congregation B’nai Jacob in Phoenixville, Pa. He succeeded Hon. Marc Weinberg, C’71, L’74. Eric lives in Phoenixville with his wife, Dr. Amy Siegel, a pediatrician, and children Regine (four) and William (two).

Ann Beth Golick, W’77, and husband, Bob Sokol, lovingly welcome their new daughter, Sydney Jayne, born on October 15. They live in Guttenberg, N.J. Ann is a senior principal at American Management Systems, Inc., in New York City.

Claire Connor Obade, CGS’78, L’81, announces the formation of her new law firm, Claire C. Obade & Associates, P.C., in Philadelphia, continuing her practice of health-care law. She had been a partner in the Philadelphia law firm of Ballard, Spahr, Andrews & Ingersoll, where she was a member of its health-care group. She continues to lecture frequently on health-law issues; she spoke on “Business Ethics and Law in Health Care in the 90s and Beyond” at the 1997 Health Law Update and Annual Meeting of the recently merged National Health Lawyers Association/American Academy of Health Care Attorneys. She is the author of a health-law treatise, Patient Care Decision-Making: A Legal Guide for Providers (1991), which is updated annually. And she is an associate editor of The Journal of Clinical Ethics, and her column on issues in health law and ethics for institutional providers will start with the spring issue.

David Phillips, W’78, has been transferred within SAS Institute, Inc.: he is now a senior systems developer in the core-user interface department, working on enhancements for the user interface to the company’s software products. He and his wife, Michele Singer Phillips, SAMP’78, who also works at SAS Institute as a principal business analyst, live in Cary, N.C., with their 11-year-old son, Leigh.

Dan Whitten C/W’78, and wife, Leslie, announce the birth of their second child, Dana Sofia, in New York City. He also reports that he was a member of the USTA 4.5 tennis team that won the national championship in Mobile, Ala., last fall.

1980s

Leah K. Glasheen, C’80, and Matthew C. MacWilliams, C’81, have moved home and office to Amherst, Mass. Matt is founding partner of MacWilliams Cosgrove Smith Robinson, a political-consulting and media firm; Leah is senior editor for AARP Bulletin, the national newspaper of the American Association of Retired Persons. Both work from home, keeping in touch with their Washington, D.C., offices via the wonders of technology. They have three children, Patrick (11), Benjamin (nine), and Allegra (six).

Anita Kramer, C’80, is a director in First Chicago’s asset-backed finance department. Until recently, she has specialized in international asset-backed securitizations, but has just been appointed to a new securitization team dedicated to emerging asset classes and new structures.

Dr. Douglas A. Nyhoff, C’80, lives in Atlanta, with his wife, Norma, and their seven-year-old daughter, Norma Virginia. He graduated medical school at Emory University in 1984 (graduating cum laude and Alpha Theta Alpha), and was married that same year. He completed his urologic training there in 1990, and has been in private practice since. His interests include “golf, tennis, family, and travel (but not necessarily in that order).”

Dr. Julian Orenstein, C’80, Potomac, Md., is a pediatric emergency-medicine doctor at Fairfax (Va.) Hospital. His wife and he have three children, all of whom were an inspiration, in one way or another, for his book 365 Ways to Calm a Crying Baby, to be published in June by Adams Media. He is editing Pedistat, a pediatric emergency-medicine textbook on CD-ROM, also to be published this year.

Dr. Rajesh Garg, C’81, is living in New York City with his wife, Madhu, and son, Arjun. He was recently elected principal in McKinsey & Co., Inc., a management-consulting firm, spending the majority of his time serving clients in health-care, including pharmaceuticals, providers, medical supply companies, and insurers. He has worked in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

Dr. Michael S. Eisenberg, EE’82, and Dr. Laurie Zittrain Eisenberg, C’82, happily report the birth of Benjamin Asher Eisenberg, on December 15. Benjamin’s sisters are Rebecca and Hannah. The Eisenbergs live in Pittsburgh where Michael practices dentistry and Laurie teaches in the history department at Carnegie Mellon University.

Alex Klapwald, C’82, was promoted to director of production for the Ballantine Publishing Group (a division of Random House, Inc.), where he gets to work on books as diverse as The Art of Star Wars and The Wall Street Journal Almanac. He and his wife, Marissa, live in New Providence, N.J., with their two sons, Aaron and Zachary.

Grace Oh Kraybill, C’82, [email protected], is an associate and project architect with the 75-year old firm of Hayes Large, Architects. She designed an addition to the outpatient center at Altoona Hospital, receiving numerous awards, including the Pittsburgh AIA Citation, and the Vista Award from the American Hospital Association. The project was also featured in the May issue of Architectural Record. In August 1996, she married David Kraybill, and “we reside in a cabin in the woods, in Johnstown, Pa.”

Dr. Ken Rose, C’82, e-mails that he is now a plastic surgeon in private practice in New York City. “I’ve finally joined the grown ups.”

Peter J. Schankowitz, C’83, and his wife, Kathy, had their first child, a girl, Carly Amelia, on October 31. “She’s perfect.” He left the practice of law, in New York City, in May 1996 and changed careers: he is now a televison producer and writer. He produced The Gordon Elliott Showfor CBS, several shows for Court TV, and is currently producing the daytime programming at VH1. “Would love to hear from old friends at [email protected].”

Arden Schneider, C’83, [email protected], is the administrative director for Spring Point Imaging in New York City, which “re-manufactures a line of environmentally-friendly imaging consumables.” Her husband, Rick Hunt, is vice president of electronic media at Columbia House, which just launched www.TotalE.com, an entertainment retailer on the Web.

Robert E. Shepard, C/G’83, is principal of the eponymous, San Francisco-based literary agency, where he specializes in non-fiction. Robert reports that he has represented a number of Penn alumni authors, and run into a few more alumni in editorial offices. His partner, Dr. Robert P. Numerof, C’82, is senior scientist at Arris Pharmaceutical Corp., a biotechnology company.

Dr. Amy Alfred, C’84, along with her husband, Evan Levow, are the proud parents of twin daughters, Sarah Alexis, and Victoria Emily, who were born on November 9. When parenthood isn’t keeping them busy, Amy works as a psychologist at a university counseling center and in private practice in Delaware. Evan is a lawyer specializing in criminal defense and personal injury in Cherry Hill, N.J.

Pamela Berstler, C’84, writes that after 13 years as an investment banker, consultant, and literary agent, “I’ve started my own business called Flower to the People, an organic, edible, landscape-design company specializing in California gardens.” She lives in Los Angeles with her partner, Alex, an artist. “I tell people I’m off the fast track and on the garden track — even Michael Milken says he wishes he’d spent more time in the garden.”

Neil Kaplan, W’84, has been promoted to director of advertising, marketing, and strategic planning at The Los Angeles Times. He lives by the beach in Torrance, Calif., with his wife, Adele, and his two boys, Max and Jeff.

Rob Rubinovitz, C’84, Rockville, Md., and his wife, Anne Rossheim, announce the birth of their second son, Michael Paul, on October 17. Their first son, Charlie, was born on May 28, 1996. Rob also changed jobs over the summer, leaving the Department of Justice to work at the economic-consulting firm, Economists Inc. in Washington, D.C.

Robin Higdon Sangston, C’84, and Jim Sangston, EE’83,have moved to Atlanta, where Robin is a senior attorney with the corporate legal department of Cox Communications, Inc., and Jim is on the faculty at Georgia Tech. They recently welcomed the addition of their third child, Amanda.

Daniel Sarch, C’84, is the president of Leitner Sarch Consultants, an executive-search firm specializing in the financial-services industry. He and his wife, Judy, live in White Plains, N.Y., and have a two-year-old daughter, Carly.

Fran Tolins Weingast, C’84, Fort Lee, N.J., joined U.S. Trust Co. of New York in June as a vice president in the estate-planning department. She and her husband, Joshua, have two daughters, Arielle (four) and Joanna (one).

Bruce Batzer, C’85, and his wife, Melissa, are pleased to announce the birth of their son, Nathan. They live in Philadelphia with their three-year-old daughter, Naomi, where Bruce is a senior vice president with Aon Risk Services.

Molly Dooher, C’85, GEd’86, e-mails that her husband, Dr. Henry Kahwaty, C’86, G’88, Gr’91, a specialist in antitrust analysis, was recently promoted to senior managing economist at Law & Economics Consulting Group, Inc. Molly is now teaching elementary education for Montgomery County in Maryland.

Dr. Richard Garfield, C’85, Gr’94, and Lily Wu Garfield, C’85, are proud to announce the birth of their first child, Terry Linnea, on September 24. Richard is a game designer at Wizards of the Coast and creator of the card game, Magic: The Gathering.

Juliet Pederson Moritz, C’85, was recently promoted to clinical-research manager at Astra USA, and is now overseeing the operational aspects of all cardiovascular-research trials it conducts in the U.S. She is living in Shrewsbury, Mass., with husband, John, and three sons.

Lawrence M. Stratton Jr., W’85, is an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown University Law Center, where he teaches a course on the 19th-century U.S. Supreme Court’s constitutional jurisprudence.

Thomas Waleski, WG’85, has joined Unilever in New York City as its manager of corporate development, overseeing the company’s merger and acquisition activity in the U.S. and Canada. Tom and his wife, Barbara, also recently moved to Greenwich, Conn.

Debra Wein Apfelbaum, C’86, Randy Apfelbaum, EAS’84, and big sister, Maya Ruth, ecstatically celebrated the birth of Elana Nava on July 23 in New York City.

Mark Evan Friedberg, EE’86, married Shannon Klaerich Friedberg in September. He is a sales manager for McAfee Software in Tinton Falls, N.J.

Jeffrey Eisen, W’88, and Andrea Goldberg Eisen, W’88,are delighted to announce the birth of their second child, a daughter named Emily Beth, on August 6. Edwin J. Lukas, C’89, and his wife, DeAnn Lukas, proudly announce the birth of their daughter, Mackenzie Brooke, on November 29; they live in Grosse Pointe, Mich.

Dr. Nina Stuzin Vincoff, C’89, M’93, [email protected], and Gary Vincoff, W’89, spent the holidays enjoying their new daughter, Zoe Gabrielle, who was born on December 19. They are living in San Francisco, where Nina is chief resident in radiology at UCSF. Gary is director of operations for CKS Enterprise, a marketing and communications group in Silicon Valley, creating high-tech Web sites.

Martin White, C’89, e-mails that he married Dr. Joy M. Hamilton White, C’93, in 1994. Graduating with an M.Ed. from Kutztown University in 1993, he is assistant director of financial aid and assistant football coach at Randolph Macon College, while pursuing a Ph.D. in urban service and education at Virginia Commonwealth University. Joy graduated from the Medical College of Virginia, at Virginia Commonwealth, in May, and is in the intern year of her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals. They live in Richmond with their children, Martin Angelo White II (four), and Jacquelynne Marie White (two).

1990s

Dr. Edward T. Lee, W’90, and Helena J. Choi-Lee, Nu’93, [email protected], are living in Chicago. They both work at Northwestern Memorial Hospital where Edward is in his third year as a resident physician with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Helena is working as an ICU nurse. They are expecting their first child this month. “And no, Edward will not be delivering the baby.”

Brian Perman, W’90, and Jerilyn Saxon Perman, C’91,announce he birth of their son, Jacob Harry Perman, on November 12. “Both baby and parents are doing great.”

Susan Niver Bernstein, C’91, and Jeffrey Bernstein, C’90, proudly announce the birth of their son, Zachary Andrew, on September 12. The family lives in New York City.

Dr. David Corti, EAS’91, and Michele Browna, C’91, GEd’93, are married and living in Los Angeles. David received his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Princeton University in February last year and is currently a post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Chemistry at UCLA. Michele is also working at UCLA as a budget analyst for its international studies and overseas programs. David will start as an assistant professor in the School of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University in August 1998. They’re looking forward to life in West Lafayette, Ind.

Shara Goldstein Ertel, C/W’91, WG’96, married Steven Daniel Ertel in September. She is a business consultant with Andersen Consulting in Boston. 

John Ganz, C’91, graduated in June from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, receiving a master’s in management with concentrations in marketing and competitive strategy. In September he joined the Colgate-Palmolive Company as an assistant product manager in its global-marketing development program. He works in the company’s New York City offices, after completing a four-month rotation with Colgate’s Midwest regional sales office. Between 1992 and 1995, John served as a legislative assistant in charge of economic and national-security policy issues on the Washington, D.C., staff of U.S. Rep. John Porter (R-Ill.).

Rebecca Rutberg, C’91, and Andrew Goldberg, C’91, [email protected], were married on May 25; they live in Washington, D.C. Rebecca received her MBA from Indiana University in May and works as a marketing analyst for the telecommunications firm, Startec Global Communications, Inc. Andrew is senior legislative assistant for U.S. Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy.

Dorit Opher Shapiro, C’91, a health economist, married Jeffrey Shapiro, a computer engineer, on August 31. They live in suburban Maryland.

Michelle Lynn Toll, C’91, and William Anthony O’Flanagan, C’91, were married in September. Michelle is an attorney with Seyfarth, Shaw, Fairweather & Geraldson, and William is an assistant district attorney in Manhattan.

Joshua Wolf, C’91, and David Flaxman, C’91, have started a cultural walking-tour company called Ole Spain, Inc., and look forward to a successful inaugural season this summer. Dr. Cheryl Bildner, C’92, successfully defended her dissertation and received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Hahnemann University. She is presently employed providing psychological services at rehabilitation hospitals. Cheryl and her husband, Fred H. Nemeth, C’92, L’95, live in Philadelphia, where Fred is an associate in the law firm of Dechert Price & Rhoads.

Seth D. Garland, C’92, and Laura Puleo, C’91, were married in Los Angeles on October 6, 1996. Seth graduated from UCLA School of Law in 1995. He and Laura recently relocated to the Washington, D.C., area where Seth is a litigation associate at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy and Laura is a recruiting manager for American Management Systems, Inc.

Ali Jalili, C’92, [email protected], was married to Courtney Chubb on December 20. He is a foreign-service officer with the State Department.

Sujay Parikh, C’92, [email protected], graduated from Georgetown University Law School in May, and is now working in New York City for Milbank, Tweed, Hadley and McCloy where he is an associate in the international-project finance group of the corporate and banking department.

Chad E. Davis, C’93, [email protected], and Krista Prescop Davis, EAS’93, [email protected], were married in Pittsburgh on September 6. Chad is the chief of staff for Pennsylvania state Senator Joe Conti (R-Bucks). Krista received a master’s degree in epidemiology and is working towards her Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh. They live in Harrisburg.

Amy Korn Duque, C’93, G’93, and Juan Carlos Duque, W’92, are proud to announce the birth of their son, Jeremy Nathaniel, on October 23. They live in Washington, D.C., where Juan Carlos is a vice president with Darby Overseas Investments Ltd., a Latin American private-equity fund. John M. Evans, GEd’93, and his wife, Cathy, have been happily moved into their new residence on a 6-acre corn farm in Medford, N.J., for a little over two years now. He is in his third year of teaching high-school math “at my alma mater, Cherokee High School, using all the wise lessons passed down to me from Dr. Jim Larkin.” He is currently working on a(nother) master’s degree in school administration at Rowan University.

Nicholas Grad, C’93, Los Angeles, is director of television development for Columbia/Tri-Star Television.

David M. Hill, EAS’93, New York City, who graduated from New York University Law School in 1996, announces his engagement to Erin M. Siegelbaum. They are to be married on August 30 in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., in a double wedding with Erin’s sister.

Ryan Maierson, W’93, received a J.D. with honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 1996. After completing a judicial clerkship, he is now an associate with the Houston law firm of Bracewell and Patterson. He and Meredith Rosenthal, an associate at the public-affairs consulting firm of Public Strategies, Inc., are engaged to be married in October.

Shannon K. Moffat, C’93, is currently a second-year MBA student at Wharton. Prior to business school, she was a business analyst with the Cleveland office of McKinsey & Company, which she plans to rejoin as an associate in the fall. She is engaged to be married to Clay Johnson in June.

Alla Frenkel Pasternack, C’93, married Adam Pasternack on September 20. After graduating law school at Fordham University, she is with the Philadelphia law firm of Lurio & Associates, specializing in securities law.

Frances Alice Peale, L’93, an attorney with the Washington, D.C., law firm of Lohnes & Albertson, where she specializes in corporate and securities law, married John Kevin Mills in September in New York Ciy.

Anne C. Todd, C’93, the daughter of Alan C. Todd, W’63,is engaged to be married to George “Geep” Keogh III, C’92, the son of the late George P. Keogh Jr., W’63, on June 13 in Winter Park, Fla. Anne will receive her MBA from Harvard Business School on June 4. Geep will receive his medical degree at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons on May 20.

Alice Yang, Nu’93, recently completed a master’s degree in the primary-care, pediatric nurse-practitioner track. She is currently a part-time nurse-practitioner and also is a nurse epidemiologist for disease control at the Philadelphia Department of Public Health.

Robyn Allen, C’94, New York City, married Gary M. Reifman on November 8. She recently joined Andersen Consulting as a human-resources specialist, after spending the last three-and-a-half years in human resources at Salomon Brothers. 

Jun S. Bang, C’94, [email protected], graduated from Temple University School of Law in May. Currently, she is an associate at White and Williams, LLP, a Philadelphia law firm; her practice areas are general commercial litigation and labor and employment.

Davora Cohen, C’94, and Michael Peck, C’94, were married on October 19 in Del Mar, Calif., Davora’s hometown. She is a consultant for Hewitt Associates in Bedminster, N.J., and Michael is a fourth-year medical student at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, pursuing a residency in general surgery. They currently live in Piscataway.

Omar A. Khan, C/G’94, [email protected], is still working at the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs, a USAID cooperating agency, as a public-health systems-development specialist. He is also continuing his research activities at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, primarily on HIV-AIDS and related issues in South Asia. He is to be co-chair of the International Health Geographics Conference, which will bring together global experts on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and health, to be held in Baltimore in October. “I remain in close touch with Matt Marlowe, C’94, Murtaza Ali, EAS’95,Nomaan Mirza, EAS/W’95, and Murad Fatehali, W’93.”

Yian-Hong Kith, C’94, e-mails “that I have returned to my native Southern California after three years in New York City. I am currently working as a publications designer as well as working towards my BFA in graphic design at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.”

Jen Kramer, W’94, was promoted to associate licensing manager at Hearst Magazines Brand Development in New York City. She has been working there for about two years. “I also just moved back into the city after a short hiatus of ‘living displacement.'”

Stefanie Rosenthal, C’94, received a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, and is now an associate with the Houston law firm of Beirne, Maynard & Parsons. She and Douglas Moll, a law professor at the University of Houston, are engaged to be married this month, March 14.

James Maceiko, W’95, e-mails: “So, it was a great weekend back for Homecoming. In addition to celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Penn Band and all the psychotic revelry that went with it, I was able to see some old housemates, Dan Haley, W’96, Gil Beverly, W’96, and Beth Montgomery, Nu’94. As for me, I still sadly live at home on Long Island, and have spent the last year and change as an equities trader with Schonfeld Securities in Jericho, N.Y. In addition, I’ve also started my own real estate company, J & M Funding and Realty, Inc. Anyone who likes should feel free to reach me at [email protected]. Leora Saacks, C’95, and Jonathan Zabusky, W’95, have recently become engaged; the wedding is planned for September, in Harrisburg. Both live and work in New York City: Leora is a consultant at the Monitor Company and Jonathan is in venture capital with Regent Capital.

Jeannette Stankiewicz, Nu’95 GNu’97, completed a master’s of science in nursing at Penn in August and is now board-certified as a gerontological nurse practitioner, with a joint appointment in the School of Nursing and at HUP. She will marry Kevin Kates on April 18.
