Dr. Alan M. Kelly Gr’67, the Gilbert S. Kahn Dean of Veterinary Medicine, plans to step down as the vet school’s dean on October 1, after 11 years in the post.

”As our longest serving dean, Alan has made a tremendous impact on the School of Veterinary Medicine and will leave the school in extraordinarily strong condition,” said President Gutmann. She commended Kelly’s work to “solidify the school’s financial base,” securing $50 million for a new teaching and research building; leading a fundraising campaign that is expected to surpass its $100 million goal by July 2006; and overseeing efforts that have led to a tripling of the school’s state appropriation (from $11 million to $37.3 million) over the past decade.

Kelly will begin a year-long sabbatical in October.
