“I’m getting a little nervous now,” a young woman confided to her companions. “Would they start already?!” There were more heart palpitations in Stemmler Hall’s Dunlop Auditorium on March 17 than in the cardiology wing at HUP. On Match Day, medical students across the country, including about 150 at Penn, learned where they had been accepted for residencies. With friends cheering them on, students were called one-by-one to the stage to pick up sealed envelopes containing answers about the next stage of their medical education. Judging by the enthusiasm that followed, the prognoses were very good. (Above, Tamu Brown M’04 expresses glee when a friend’s name is called.)
