On the overcast evening of April 19, the Penn community celebrated the University’s Making History fundraising campaign with a campus-wide outdoor party. Hosted in Penn Park, the “Time to Shine” celebration involved performances by numerous student groups as well as Grammy award-winning pop rock band Train and Grammy award-winning artist John Legend C’99. Meandering between several stages throughout the park, those in attendance enjoyed hours of music, dance, stand-up comedy, and athletic exhibitions. With 17,000 people registered, “Time to Shine” was billed as the largest such event in Penn history—providing a fitting ending to a record-breaking $4.3 billion fundraising haul.
