There’s never a shortage of building and renovation projects around campus, but this summer things seemed to be particularly active (and messy). Certainly it’s been hard to walk or drive in any direction from the Gazette editorial offices at 3910 Chestnut Street without encountering someone in a hardhat.

Probably the highest-profile project now under way is the New College House at Hill Field (top and second row, left), scheduled for completion in July 2016 [“Gazetteer,” Jan|Feb 2014]. Other projects pictured include site work on the future home of the Perry World House at 3803 Locust Walk, an addition to Kelly Writers House that will contain a state-of-the-art digital recording studio, renovation of the Class of 1949 Generational Bridge over 38th Street, and construction of the Jordan Medical Education Center at 3400 Civic Center Boulevard.

All of these projects will eventually make for important additions and enhancements to Penn’s facilities … and lots of detours in the meantime.—J.P.
