The University has finally made the dean’s list in U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of national universities, tying with Dartmouth College for seventh place in a field of 228.
Last year, when the University had slipped from 11th place to 13th, Dr. Judith Rodin, CW’66, president of the University, said the rankings were like “comparing apples to oranges in many respects.” This year, she again cautioned that the rankings “should not be taken too seriously,” but added that “this affirmation that Penn is among the finest institutions in America should be quite helpful as we continue to seek to attract the best and brightest students this year and in the future.”
In the “best values” category, Penn was ranked 25th among national universities, behind all of its Ivy League peers but Brown.
