Students, staff, and faculty celebrated the anniversary on September 19 with food and music for the entire campus. Several of the University’s dormitories had been known as College Houses for a longer time, but in 1998 the system was expanded to include all of them. The College Houses—there are currently 11—have installed live-in faculty in every student residence, sponsored student performing-arts groups, and coordinated with the Penn Humanities Forum to launch undergraduate research fellowships. President Gutmann’s birthday wish? A new College House on Hill Field to make it an even dozen.
