… is the title of this painting by Turkish artist and official Osman Hamdi Bey, who played a major role in the Penn Museum’s first archaeological dig, at Nippur in the late 1800s (and who appears in the painting as the seated and standing figures to the left). The painting is included in Archaeologists & Travelers in Ottoman Lands, an exhibition exploring the  relationships among Bey, Assyriologist Hermann V. Hilrprecht, and the photographer John Henry Haynes; the exhibition runs through June 2011.
