The Hon. Joshua V. Davidow, C’31, Pompano Beach, Fla., was a high-school principal in Bridgeton, N.J., before returning to the practice of law. A ROTC graduate at Penn, he later served under Generals George Patton and Douglas MacArthur — who promoted him to colonel and awarded him the Medal of Honor.

1940s

Amy Markovitz Zeckhauser, CW’41, Buffalo, chair of Coordinate Care, an elder care and service program, writes that Elizabeth Cohen Harvey, CW’41, received its Prime Time Award for her great example of “successful aging” and her efforts in education and services to the blind.

Prof. Burton Caine, C’49, professor of law at Temple University and director of its law school’s program in Israel, was awarded a Joseph J. Malone Fellowship to participate in a two-week Arab and Islamic Studies program in Saudi Arabia last May.

1950s

Barbara Glaskin Asen, Ed’54, writes “every day above ground is a good one” since retiring from teaching, and with her husband, Donald, moving to Delray Beach, Fla. She has been having fun doing book-signings for her self-published book, Bubby Does Boca, a humorous look at life in Boca Raton.

Dr. Horace H. Coburn, Gr’56, Mesilla Park, N. Mex., has retired from the physics department at the New Mexico State University, but continues educating as a science adviser at an elementary school in Las Cruces.

Charles T. Lincoln, C’56, Lansdale, Pa., writes that he has retired from Sears Roebuck & Co., and recently re-married, after being a widower for over five years.

Eileen Abrams Segal, CW’58, is a founding board member of Pet Pals, a New Jersey organization which helps terminally ill patients keep their companion animals.

William Allen Eaton, C’59, and Gertrude McBride Eaton, C’59, are proud to announce the birth of their first grandchild, Guilhem Eaton Combet, son of their daughter, Helen Sherman Eaton, C’93, and Guillaume Combet.

1960s

Dr. Malcolm B. Zola, GM’60, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., writes that “after locking the door on my oral-maxillofacial practice in Glen Cove, N.Y. on June 30, I have slipped on my academic gown,” and is now chair of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the new College of Dental Medicine at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale. He and his wife, Marcia, are happily expecting a second grandson.

Dr. Michael A. Glantz, MtE’61, G’63, Gr’70, a senior scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo., has just published his 18th book. His 17th book, a paperback on El Nino, Currents of Change: El Nino’s impact on climate and society, was published by Cambridge University Press; “this is the only popular book on El Nino.” His daughter, Michelle M. Glantz, C’90, is studying for a Ph.D. in anthropology at Penn.

Judy Greber, Ed’61, G’65, an author of over 12 books, taught conversational English to children in Poland for Global Volunteers, a nonprofit organization based in St. Paul, Minn., which offers its participants the chance to engage in short-term human and economic development projects worldwide.

Frank B. Schmidt, W’62, Agoura Hills, Calif., has been included in the Who’s Who in the World 1997 for his work in the executive-search field. Before starting his own executive recruiting firm, F.B. Schmidt International, he had a successful marketing career with PepsiCo.

Sheldon S. Toll, C’62, Bloomfield Hills, Mich., a partner in the Detroit law firm of Honigman, Miller, Schwartz and Cohn, was included in the 1997-98 edition of Best Lawyers in America, and is listed in the 1997-98 edition of Who’s Who in America. A frequent author and lecturer on commercial and business law, he represents the committee of victims of asbestos disease in the Celotex bankruptcy reorganization case in Tampa, Fla.

Howard P. Weisz, W’62, Paoli, Pa., announces the formation of HW Associates, Inc., a management-consulting firm concentrating on complete supply-chain management.

Steven C. Camp, W’63, writes that his second book, MONEY Matters Made Easy, was published by Trunkey Publishing Co. last summer. He lives in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with his wife, Melanie, and daughters, Elizabeth, a senior at Penn, and Stephanie, a sophomore at Columbia.

Michael Coleman, W’63, L’66, president of Coleman Legal Search Consultants in Philadelphia, has been elected to the board of the Philadelphia Theatre Company and the board of the University of Pennsylvania Law School’s Alumni Society.

Dr. Yakov Epstein, C’63, professor of psychology and associate director of the Center for Mathematics, Science, and Computer Education at Rutgers University at Piscataway, N.J., was named a member of the advisory board of the Academy of Reproductive Technology Professionals. He is also a member of the advisory board to the International Council on Infertility Information Dissemination. He and his wife, Dr. Helane Rosenberg, are authors of Getting Pregnant When You Thought You Couldn’t, (Warner Books) and parents of five-year-old twins, Nathaniel and Allegra.

Dr. Norman J. Glickman, C’63, G’67, Gr’69, Princeton N.J., the State of New Jersey Professor of Urban Planning and director of the Center for Urban Policy Research at Rutgers University, in October was awarded a prize by the American Planning Association for community planning in a Newark inner-city neighborhood, and in November, he received another from the Fannie Mae Foundation and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning award for a paper on community-development corporations. He co-authored State of the Nation’s Cities (1996), which was the given a best-practices award by the U.N. Secretary General at the United Nation’s Habitat Conference in Istanbul. He is currently on leave of absence from Rutgers.

John Doman, C’66, Brooklyn Heights, N.Y.,played Pisanio in Shakespeare’s Cymbeline in November at the Hartford Stage in Hartford, Conn., and at the McCarter Theater in Princeton in January.

Dennis Drabelle, G’66, Washington, D.C., received the National Book Critics Circle’s 1996 citation for excellence in reviewing; this was announced last March.

Jack Gilhooley, G’66, Sarasota, Fla., was awarded his second state individual artist fellowship (1997-98), to support his professional activities as an artist.

Dr. Arthur J. Epstein, G’67, Gr’71, was named a Distinguished University Professor at the Ohio State University early last year; he serves as director of the Center for Materials Research there. Since 1989 he has been involved in a research program on synthetic metals collaborating with Dr. Alan G. MacDiarmid, the Blanchard Professor of Chemistry at Penn. He is the author of more than 500 publications and 25 patents. His wife, Paulayne Sklarsky Epstein, Nu’68, is corporate secretary for a small high-tech plastics company. She serves on the boards of her local synagogue and the Friends of the Bexley Public Library. Their daughter, Melissa A. Epstein, C’96, who received a diploma in Jewish studies from the University of Oxford last year, is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in linguistics at UCLA, and their other daughter, Dana M. Epstein, is a College sophomore at Penn.

Bill Floyd, C’67, WG’69, was named vice chair and CEO of Choice Hotels International, Inc., the second largest franchisor of hotels in the world. Prior to Choice, he was COO of Taco Bell, a division of PepsiCo. Bill and his wife, Sue Hills Floyd, CW’67, reside in Bethesda, Md.

Dr. Marc Richmond, C’67, was named chief medical officer for NovaSys Health Network in Little Rock, Ark. He is currently completing a master’s in medical management at Tulane University.

Dr. Jean Schere, C’67, G’69, WG’72, Gr’81, after graduating from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy in 1995 and a teaching stint at Tufts’ economics department, is now a visiting researcher at both the Fletcher School and Harvard Law School, and is writing on a book on the re-design of the institutions of the French Republic. “Based upon the findings of organization theory and organizational economics as well as the philosophical work of Montesquieu and the American Founding Fathers, this book will advocate that France must adopt a federal system if it wants to move successfully into the next century and fully benefit from European integration.”

Stephen P. Weiss, W’68, L’71, an attorney with the Philadelphia law firm of Fox, Rothschild, O’Brien & Frankel, LLP, e-mails that his daughter Lauren Weiss, is at Penn in the College of Arts and Sciences (Class of 2001), where she joins her brother, Brian Weiss, who will be graduating from the College in May.

Dr. Elizabeth Hoffman, G’69, Gr’72, has been named provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs at University of Illinois at Chicago. Previously, she was dean of liberal arts and sciences at Iowa State University since 1993.

1970s

Alexis Leslie Barbieri, CW’70, Philadelphia, was appointed Executive Deputy Attorney General for Pennsylvania’s Public Protection Division, which oversees civil-rights enforcement, charitable trusts and the newly-created information technology and law section.

Dr. Laura J. Corwin, Gr’70, New York City, has been promoted to vice president of The New York Times Company. She is also corporate secretary and corporate counsel for the organization.

Terri N. Gelberg, CW’70, was recently named one of Pennsylvania’s Best 50 Women in Business. She is president of Gelberg & Associates, P.C., a business- and securities-law firm specializing in business incorporation and employment law. She is also chair of Penn’s Trustees’ Council of Penn Women.

Stuart M. Widman, W’70, a Chicago attorney, was selected as a Leading Illinois Attorney in the area of alternative dispute- resolution and commercial law. He lives in Lake Forest, Ill., with wife, Diana, and their four teenage children.

Gary Kaplan, C’71, vice president of the Grace-Mayer Insurance Agency, has been elected president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Omaha for this year.

Judy Dischell Lalli, CW/GEd’71, Harleysville, Pa., has written I Like Being Me: poems for children about feeling special, appreciating others and getting along, and co-authored A Leader’s Guide to I Like Being Me, available from Free Spirit Publishing. She teaches along with her husband, Tony, at an elementary school in Norristown, Pa.

Barbara Slopak Sofer, C’71, e-mails that her first novel, The Thirteenth Hour, came out as a Signet paperback last November. Shalom Haver-Goodbye, Friend, her tribute to Yitzhak Rabin was recognized as the best Jewish children’s book of 1996 by the Association of Jewish Libraries. Barbara lives with her husband scientist/writer, Gerald Schroeder, and their five children in Jerusalem. Sons Avi, 21, and Josh, 20, are serving in the Israel Defense Forces and “parental worry has gone into a new sphere.”

Ronald Greenberg, C’72, <adgreenberg@dbs.lt>, e-mails that he is married to Ann DeLong Greenberg; they were expecting their first child in January. Since 1995, Ron has been the regional representative for the U.S. Agency for International Development to the Baltic republics and is based in Lithuania. He is assisting the three countries become market economies and open, free democracies. Prior to this, he was chief of environment for AID, responsible for environmental assistance to Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, Asia, and the Middle East. Ann was at the EPA, managing its assistance program in the Ural regions of Russia. Ron adds that he is hoping to hear from his classmates.

Stephen M. Levene, C’72, WG’77, Atlanta, has been named publisher of the Atlanta Jewish Times.

Jeff Schoenwald, C’73, has joined the Schafer Corporation, Calabasas, Calif., as a senior scientist and systems engineer. Schafer is a consulting and technical services company with seven offices nationwide; formerly W.J. Schafer Associates, it is now an employee-owned small business, supporting military and commercial-business development. Jeff moved after more than 17 years at the Rockwell International Science Center, in Thousand Oaks, Calif., and two years at the Rocketdyne division of Boeing North American, Inc.

Dr. Gerald Early, C’74, the Merle Kling Professor of Modern Letters and director of the African and Afro-American studies program at Washington University, was recently inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He currently is completing “Muhammad Ali Reader,” a collection of articles and interviews with the former heavyweight-boxing champion.

Richard D. Lane, W’76, WG’81, has been named CEO of PureSpeech, Inc., a manufacturer of speech-recognition software for high-volume computer telephony. Rich lives with his wife Margaret, and their two sons, Adam (nine) and Eric (six) in Sudbury, Mass.

Rebecca Weiss, CGS’76, SW’79, reports that after writing poems and essays for 10 years she is offering her first collection of poetry, Clearing the Squirrels, published on her own. She lives in Philadelphia and currently works for a newly established pharmaceutical company in the Philadelphia suburbs. Becky is a single parent of two adult daughters who live in San Francisco and New York City.

Lisa Kabnick, C’77, a partner in the Philadelphia law firm of Pepper, Hamilton & Scheetz, also serves as president of the Chilean & American Chamber of Commerce; at its recent annual meeting Ana Maria Cardemil Garcia, G’71, and her husband, Claudio E. Richard Sternberg, C/G’77, is still practicing law in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. He was admitted into the Martindale-Hubbell Register of Pre-eminent Lawyers. He and his wife, Sheryl, have three children: Jennifer (11), Jonathan (eight), and Justin (two).

Gary J. Stilwell, W’77, WG’84, a third-year medical student at Temple University, visited the Somali refugee camps in Kenya as part of the Doctors Without Borders in the summer, 1996. Before med school, he worked at MTV Music Television in New York City.

Dr. Gary A. Green, C’79, an associate professor in the UCLA Department of Family Medicine and a team physician for Pepperdine University, and his wife, Corinne Cox, announce the birth of their daughter, Mia Isabela, on October 17. They also have a 2 1/2 year old daughter, Nina Gabriela.

Dr. John E. Nestler, C’79, professor of medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University, was made chair of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism there. In 1990 he married Michelle Renee Dumont and they have two children: John Alexander (four), and Matthew Joseph (three).

1980s

Dr. Steven Schwartzberg, C’80, a clinical psychologist, has been promoted to assistant clinical professor of psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School; he also conducts a private psychotherapy practice in Cambridge, Mass. His A Crisis of Meaning: How Gay Men are Making Sense of AIDS was published by Oxford University Press in 1996.

Beth Sherman, C’81, and her husband, Andy Edelstein, are proud to announce the birth of Jessie Rose Edelstein on September 10. Beth’s first novel, Dead Man’s Float, is to be published by Avon Books in June. Andy is an entertainment editor at Newsday. They live in New York City.

Mandy Familiar, C’82, has been named vice president of engineering for E-Travel, Inc., a company that develops real-time Web-based and client-server desktop-reservations, and management software.

Jonathan Flatow, C’82, and his wife, Caroline, had their second child, on October 29: William Paul Flatow weighed 9lbs 10oz. Their first child is Kristin and she is two years old.

Laurie Beth Yulsman Kazenoff, C’82, lives in Lloyd Harbor, N.Y., with her husband, Dr. Bob Kazenoff, and their three children, Alexander Michael Kazenoff (seven), Benjamin James Kazenoff (five), and their new son, Daniel Alan Kazenoff, born on April 29. Laurie, formerly a tax attorney in the Chief Counsel’s Office of theDepartment of Treasury for eight years, opened her own tax practice in Huntington, in June 1995, specializing in tax controversies and estate planning. Daniel Alan is named after Laurie’s father, S. Alan Yulsman, W’51, G’52, who died suddenly in January 1997.

Nancy Wein, C’82,New York City, and her husband, Daniel Baldwin, announce the birth of their daughter, Julia, on July 7; she joins Dan’s sons, Matt (16) and Josh (13).

Laurie Abzug, EAS/W’83, after an 11-year career in computer sales and marketing, first with IBM and then with a computer-consulting firm, returned to full time graduate school; she graduated May last year with a Masters in Physical Therapy, from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She is now working as an orthopaedic physical therapist in Maryland. She was married on November 15.

Thomas Carr, W’83, and Jeannine Hopko Carr, EAS’83, with their two sons, Ian (seven) and Trevor (two), are living in Ridgefield, Conn. In May, Jeannine received her MBA with distinction from New York University’s Leonard Stern School of Business. Tom is working in sales for IBM Credit Corporation; Jeannine is in sales for IBM, too.

Dr. Jeffrey S. Schiffman, C’83, M’87, writes he is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in the spine in San Diego. He lives in Del Mar, Calif., with his wife, Meg, and their one-year-old son, Andrew.

Lew Schneider, C’83, and Liz Abbe, C’84, announce the birth of Jacob Abbe-Schneider on February 4, 1997. He joins his brothers Marty (six) and Leo (four) in “the house that fatigue built” in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Lori Tauber Marcus, W’84, and her husband, James Marcus, welcomed a daughter, Samantha Tauber Marcus, on August 11. Samantha joins big sister, Olivia (three). Lori and James recently relocated to New Canaan, Conn. Lori is the director of customer marketing at Pepsi-Cola in Somers, N.Y.

Jonathan Zucker, EAS’84, e-mails that he was married on June 15. He and his wife, Jeanne, live in the Philadelphia area, where he is a senior software engineer for Base Ten, a company that makes software for pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Dr. Charles Bolger Jr., G’85, Gr’92, Jamison, Pa., has been appointed vice president of management information systems for HMA Health Plan.

Pamela Troisi Dillon, C/G’85, has accepted a position as a vice president in the real estate investment-banking division of Goldman Sachs as of March 1997. She and her husband of 12 years, Dr. Stephen Dillon, EE’76, GEE’84, Gr’84, live in New York City.

Dr. David Eisenmann, C’85, reports that he completed his Ph.D. in genetics at Harvard University in 1992, got married in 1995, and completed his postdoctoral work at Stanford University last fall. He is now an assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He and his wife, Suzanne Barr, an attorney at Rosenberg, Proutt, Funk and Greenberg, moved to Baltimore in September.

Scott Hardin, EAS’85, has been appointed registrar at Highline Community College in suburban Seattle.

Charles E. Leasure III, C’85, a partner in the Washington, D.C., law firm of Carr, Goodson, Lee & Warner, and his wife, Joanne, are pleased to announce the birth of their second son, James Nicholas Leasure, on September 16. Nicholas joins Charlie, who was three on November 1.

Charles Markon, EAS’85, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and his wife, Amy, announce the birth of their third and fourth children, Daniel Jacob and Zachary Noah, on August 12; they join Rachel (five) and Adam (two).

David A. Talton, EAS/W’85, married Kelly Grant of Quakertown, Pa., in June. They recently moved to Cleveland where David took a position as general manager of Picker International’s image-management division, which provides network solutions for radiology images and information. “After graduating I started Dynamic Digital Displays, Inc., and sold the company to Picker International in 1992. My main focus has been improving methods for 3-D visualization of medical image data such as that provided by CT and MR scanners.”

George Glinsky, C’86, <GeoGlinsky@aol.com>, and his wife, Pam, announce the birth of a baby boy on June 15. “Max already wears Penn sweats.” George founded Bridge Consulting, Inc., in 1996 which serves consumer-products retailers and manufacturers in this country and Israel. Pam is a registered dietician and develops educational materials for patient use and serves as marketing associate for Global Concepts, Inc.

Leland Hardy, WG’86, New York City,<xuanya@financier.com>,chair, president & CEO of the Xuanya Group, Inc., and president of Starfish Sports, Inc., is now a co-manager of two-time Grammy Award-winning music, television, and film star, LL Cool J. He is also the business adviser of tennis star, Venus Williams, and her family.

Dr. William Maghen, C’86, Jerusalem, was awarded a Ph.D. in Middle East and Islamic history by Columbia University. Presently, he lectures at Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Bar Ilan University of Tel Aviv.

Dr. Eva Moskowitz, C’86, New York City, took leave from her academic career teaching American history at the College of Staten Island, to run for New York City Council, against an incumbent Republican for the 4th district seat serving Manhattan’s East Side last November.

Dr. Connie Mullinix, WG’86, GrN’90, presented the graduate Convocation address at the University of North Carolina’s School of Nursing in August. Head of her own healthcare consulting company, she serves on the adjunct faculty at UNC’s School of Public Health.

Debby Rosenthal, C’86, e-mails that a collection of essays she edited on the anti-alcohol movement in American literature was published recently: David S. Reynold and Debra J. Rosenthal, The Serpent in the Cup: Temperance in American Literature (University of Massachusetts Press, 1997).

Robert A. Schetty III, EAS’86, is the corporate technical and marketing manager at LeaRonal, Inc., a specialty-chemical supplier in Freeport, N.Y. He and his wife, Shalini, a credit analyst for Chase Manhattan Bank, proudly announce the birth of their first child, Alanna Emilia, on August 21. They live in Fort Salonga on Long Island.

Dr. Vincent M. B. Silenzio, C’86, <silenzvm@umdnj.edu>, in November joined the faculty of the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons as director of pre-doctoral education and assistant director of research in the Center for Family Medicine. “I’m also very proud of the fact that I will be the very first family-medicine academician ever to be physically based on the P&S campus, and will be helping to continue the college’s primary-care curricular-reform efforts. My domestic partner, Dr. Douglas S. Portman, C’88, Gr’95, is a post-doctoral fellow in developmental genetics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, and he and I are still living in Manhattan.”

Dr. Daniel Feinberg, C’87, e-mails that he recently returned to Penn as a clinical assistant professor of neurology faculty in the School of Medicine. He recently finished a fellowship in neuromuscular disorders at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. “I am based at UPHS’s new address-Pennsylvania Hospital. I am married and expecting a child in January.” He recently published a book chapter on peripheral neuropathy and is writing another on common neuropathies.

Carra Ericsson Castagnero, C’88, and Steve Castagnero, EAS’88, of Apex, N.C., announce the birth of their second child, Mia Lorraine, on February 25, 1997. She joins brother, Jake Eric, born in 1994. Carra works part-time at GlaxoWellcome in Research Triangle Park; Steve is a technical-development leader at AlliedSignal in Moncure.

Kendra J. Morss Dahnert, Nu’88, and David R. Dahnert, C’89, announce the birth of their daughter, Emily Grace, on August 29 in Salt Lake City.

Dr. Daphne Stamos Keshishian, C’88, Phoenix, is a general internist in Scottsdale. She and her husband, Leon, are pleased to announce the birth of a son, Armand Lee, on May 19.

Randi Kremer Saunders, C’88, L’91, associate counsel for trademarks, copyrights, and licensing for MCI Communications in Washington, D.C., married W. Charles Saunders Jr., an intellectual-property lawyer in Washington, at Penn’s Wharton Sinkler Estate on May 31. They live in Falls Church, Va.

Jonathan H. Bari, C’89, Philadelphia, writes he has joined Time Warner’s Road Runner group in Stamford, Conn., as director of business development. Road Runner is “a high-speed, cable-modem online service delivered to consumers’ PCs that offers the World Wide Web ‘without the World Wide Wait.'”

Christine Joseph Dickson, C’89, Mount Laurel, N.J., is a sales manager for Aetna US Healthcare, where she has been for close to seven years. Last May she married Joe Dickson,celebrating with many of their Penn friends, including Collen Boyle McHugh, W’89, and Karen Engdahl Dugan, Nu’89.

Robert Fisher, C’89, has joined Lincoln Equities Group, a commercial real estate developer, as an in-house leasing and marketing director in their New Jersey office. “I communicate regularly by e-mail with several of my classmates and would welcome any correspondence from others <rfisher@acsnj.com>.”

Dr. Michael S. Hanau, C’89, graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine in 1993 and from the Harvard-Longwood Psychiatry Residency Training Program in 1997. He is currently an attending psychiatrist at Beverly Hospital and has opened a private practice on Harvard Square in Boston.

Michele Kelemen, C’89, <Michele_L._Kelemen@lon.voa.gov>, has been an anchor of the Voice of America news program World Report and is now moving to Moscow to become a VOA correspondent. She was married in November 1996 to Benoit Bosquet, who is working on his Ph.D. in environmental policy at the University of Maryland (they both received their master’s in international relations at Johns Hopkins University in 1993). Michele “is looking forward to catching up with Penn friends in Moscow!”

Melissa Marlowe-Reiner, C’89, and Brett Reiner, W’89, announce the birth of their daughter, Renee Marlowe Reiner, on March 28. Melissa and Brett were married in June 1995; they currently live in Westport, Conn.

Adam Trevor Ackerman, C/W’90, Maple Glen, Pa., is an attorney with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Christopher Geczy, C’90, recently moved back to the Philadelphia area with his wife Nichole, having accepted a position at Wharton as an assistant professor in finance. “It’s really exciting being back on campus!!”

Darren Lenard Hutchinson C’90, recently joined the faculty of the Southern Methodist University School of Law (after working at the New York City law firm of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton). He is teaching in the areas of constitutional law and critical race theory.

Meeka Jun, C’90, <mjun@brownraysman.com>, is an intellectual property lawyer at Brown, Raysman, Millstein, Felder & Steiner LLP in New York City where she focuses on high-technology and new-media issues. On September 6, she married Joseph A. Bondy, a criminal-defense lawyer in private practice in New York, at the Old Westbury Country Club on Long Island. Meeka e-mails that she “would love to hear from her long-lost classmates.”

Dr. Chris Kager, C’90, M’94, e-mails that he and Dr. Stephanie Kager, C’89, “had our third child (first boy!) on October 12; his name is Aaron Michael.” Stephanie finished her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati and has joined a private pediatric practice in the Cincinnati area. “I am in my fourth year (out of seven) in neurosurgery residency at University Hospital in Cincinnati. Kimberly M. Kaplan, C’90, joined the Philadelphia law firm of Schnader, Harrison, Segal & Lewis, specializing in labor and employment law.

Gary Lipshutz, C’90, is a litigation associate with the firm of Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker in New Jersey. He and Antoinette L. Ham, EAS’91, were married in September 1995. Antoinette is a first-year medical student at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Piscataway, N.J.

Dr. Michelle L. Mayer Nu’90, successfully defended her dissertation in September; it was entitled “The Effects of Medicaid Policy on Dentists’ Participation” and was funded by a grant from the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research. She is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the Sheps Center for Health Services Research at UNC-Chapel Hill and an instructor at the School of Public Health there. “I also married Bill Steinbach, a fourth-year medical student at UNC, on October 11 in Philadelphia.”

Bret I. Parker, C’90, and wife, Katharine, proudly announce the birth of their son, Matthew Edward Parker, on November 7, weighing in at 8lbs, 11oz. Bret recently left the law firm of Dorsey & Whitney to become an in-house copyright and trademark attorney for the Colgate-Palmolive Co. in New York City.

Richard A. Raffetto, W’90, writes he has been promoted to vice president at the Bank of New York. He is enrolled in NYU’s Stern School of Business and expects his MBA in May. He lives in Bay Head, N.J. with his wife, Ariane.

Allison Singley, C’90, is an adjunct instructor of English at Gettysburg College while she continues to work on her Ph.D. in English literature at the University of Connecticut. She and her husband, Christopher Fee, spent the past two years living in Glasgow, Scotland.

Judith Weitzman, C/W’90, e-mails that “since May 1997, I’ve become a frequent business flyer while working for the Philadelphia office of Price Waterhouse as a management consultant, specializing in PeopleSoft implementations. Prior to PW, I earned my CPA as a Deloitte and Touche auditor and as a KPMG Peat Marwick tax specialist. Tricia Lyn Bianchini, EAS’91, and Kuo Hsien Tong, C’89, were married on October 11, in Sonoma, Calif. Also in attendance were Lee DeVries, C’89 (the best man), Jenny Libien, C’91 (the maid of honor), Dan Apel, C’87, Michael Buchness, EAS’90, Janice Lin, W’91, Anita Hsueh Lynn, EAS’91, and Haniel Lynn, EAS’91, WG’95; Lauren Novek, C’91, Jake Stenton, W’91, and Stephanie Weinstein, C’91. After honeymooning in Australia and New Zealand, they both reluctantly returned to San Francisco to resume their consulting careers. Kuo and Tricia are the founders of Quorum Consulting, which provides strategic-planning and market-research services to the medical-technology industry.

Stephanie McNeal, W’91, has recently been named account manager and broadcast-media buyer for Beach Advertising in Philadelphia, the state’s oldest and largest full-service African American advertising agency. She holds primary responsibility for advertising and public-relations efforts for a diverse client group, including the Law School Admissions Council, the Greater Philadelphia First Campaign for Public Education and PECO Energy.

Deborah Fries Pook, C’91, e-mails that she married David Olson Pook, C’91, in June 1993. They had moved to Indiana in 1992 so that David could pursue his Ph.D. in philosophy at Indiana University. Deborah was a litigation paralegal in Indianapolis 1992-97 and was named Indiana Paralegal of the Year 1995-96. She served on the board of the Indiana Paralegal Association 1994-97, chaired the committee which drafted IPA’s Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility and its disciplinary rules, and was elected its president last July. She is now conducting all research for the alumni & development office of the Berkshire School in Sheffield, Mass., and still working for her Indiana law firm on an as-needed basis. David served as coach of Indiana University’s crew teams, 1995-97; he is currently teaching ethics, art history, and comparative religions and coaching crew at Berkshire while he completes his dissertation.

Ruthlyn V. Greenfield-Webster, Nu’92, in July was promoted to assistant clinical coordinator for the five medical units and one neurology unit at New York University Medical Center.

Julie Shaw, W’92, writes she has finished two years of service as a small-business consultant with the Peace Corps in Honduras, and is now attending the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.

Hilary C. Davis, C’93, recently moved to Burlington, Vt., to become an account manager at Jager Di Paola Kemp Design, which specializes in brand-building through creation of distinctive identities strategically integrated with product graphics, packaging, merchandising materials, sales collateral, Web sites, advertising, trade-show exhibits, and video. “Our strengths are in branding for clients with products targeted at today’s youth culture,” with clients including Burton Snowboards, Rock Shox, Roces, Sony, the Buffalo Sabres, Merrell Footwear, Karhu hockey and x-c skiing, Magic Hat Beer. “I handle, among others, STX Lacrosse and Field Hockey, RED (a division of Burton), and Sony. I’ve been having a lot of adventures, including hiking, mountain-biking, wakeboarding and waterskiing in the Green Mountains and Adirondacks all summer. Looking forward to snowboarding and skiing all over Vermont this winter. I’m also playing field hockey and recently modeled for an ad for our client, Cyclops, released in the October issue of Conde Nast Sports for Women.”

Helen Sherman Eaton, C’93, and Guillaume Combet are the parents of Guilhem Eaton Combet.

Andria Bernacchi Eisman, C’93, is currently working at the University of Michigan Medical Center as an occupational therapist after completing her Master’s in Occupational Therapy in December 1996. On September 29, 1996, she married Robert Eisman in West Bloomfield, Mich., with Sonia Biswas, C’93, and Ginny Friedman, C’94, in the wedding party. They currently reside in Fenton, Mich.

Eliza Feuerstein C’93, is working in New York City at GCI Group, a public relations agency, and will marry Todd Schleifstein on June 28, 1998.

Scott Hintz, W’93, is in his second year at Stanford Graduate School of Business. Last summer he worked as a brand manager on the Giorgio, Hugo Boss, Mossimo, Laura Biagiotti, and Herve Leger fine-fragrance brands at Giorgio Beverly Hills in Los Angeles (a division of Procter & Gamble). “Among other great things, photo and commercial shoots with supermodels on location in Malibu, Hollywood, and Beverly Hills was the highlight of the summer!”

Debbie Jaffe, C’93, Menlo Park, Calif., ” got married in June to another Penn graduate from the Class of 1993, Oswaldo Sandoval.”

Frederique Lehoux, C’93, <fred@dts.mg>, e-mails that after graduating from Penn, he worked in the Czech Republic on foreign policy in the Office of the President, Vaclav Havel. After graduate school, earning a Master in Public Policy degree at Harvard University, he worked for a year in New York City for the United Nations Development Programme. He recently started working with CARE, an international-development and -relief agency, after being accepted in its management-training program. “I was detached to the CARE office in Antananarivo, Malagasy Republic, where I will stay for two years. This is a great place to learn about emergency relief and development. I am available for information that Penn students might need, especially those wanting to get involved in international development work.”

Margaret Kane Schoen, EAS’93, and Larry Schoen, C/W’93, were married on September 6. Margaret is a senior writer for ZDNet, the online news service of Ziff Davis Co. in Medford, Mass. Larry, who graduated from Harvard Law School, recently completed a judicial clerkship for the Hon. William G. Young of the U.S. District Court, and is now an attorney at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., in Boston. They live in Cambridge.

Patricia D’Alonzo, C’94, San Francisco, writes that her sister, Diana D’Alonzo, C’90, married Gregory Porges, C’89, in Wilmington, Del., last March. Mark Kolsky, CGS’94, is the technical editor of Automotive Body Repair News, a trade magazine published by Chilton Publishing, though recently purchased by Reed-Elsevier. He travels around the country gathering technical information pertaining to the collision industry, and also writes feature stories. “It is very interesting (especially the travel) and I owe most of what I do to Penn and its writing courses.”

Andrew C. Martin, C’94, San Diego, a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy stationed on board the USS Rushmore, LSD-47, announces his engagement to Margaret H. Hoefner, also a lieutenant in the Navy, who works for the Defense Intelligence Agency. They are planning an August wedding in New York City, and will live in the D.C. area.

Tali Mejicovsky, C/EAS’94, stopped in for Homecoming ’97 to report that after three years of working in the New York office of Ove Arup & Partners as a structural engineer, she is transferring to their Sydney, Australia, office to do facade engineering. Tali is “moving to Oz immediately after New Year’s, but not before taking six weeks to travel in South America and New Zealand [and would] love to hear from any other wandering Penn alums via e-mail <tali.mejicovsky@arup.com”>.

Dan Simon, C’94, is working in New Orleans as a general assignment reporter for WWL-TV, “ranked the No.1 CBS-affiliate in the nation. I had the privilege last year of covering my first Mardi Gras. Previously, I worked in the same position at KMTV in Omaha, Neb.”

Alicia Vander Wiele Casucci, GNu’95,married Jeffrey M. Casucci, a lieutenant in the U.S. Army, on October 26, 1996; they live in Lawton, Okla. Alicia teaches in the BSN program at the University of Oklahoma and is working as a nurse consultant for the Early Intervention/SoonerStart program of the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

Laura Froehlich, W’95, completed a master’s in human-resource development at Vanderbilt University in July and began working for Andersen Consulting’s Nashville office at the end of July. She will soon be transferring to their Phoenix office.

Michael R. Harrison, C’95, Washington, D.C., writes he completed his master’s in museum studies at George Washington University in May, and is now working as a curatorial assistant at the National Building Museum.

Sara Pappas, C’95, received her master’s degree in French from the University of California at Los Angeles in June; she is currently a Ph.D. student in French at Cornell University.

Melissa A. Epstein, C’96, who received a diploma in Jewish studies from the University of Oxford in 1996, is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in linguistics at UCLA.
