While Brian Bolten W’96 may not be one of the elite group of men inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, a T-shirt of his is traveling in the company of Jackie Robinson’s 1956 Dodgers jersey, “Shoeless” Joe Jackson’s shoes, and the baseball bats that set records for Babe Ruth.
Bearing the slogan “They Have Built It, So I Will Come,” the T-shirt is one of 50 he had made to commemorate his summer 2000 tour of all 30 North American Major League baseball stadiums. According to Bolten, the shirts were originally sent to the Hall of Fame “to let them know of the trip—as well as my passion and slight insanity for the game”—but ended up as part of the one-time traveling exhibition, Baseball as America, which kicked off in March in New York.
Traveling much of the way by car with Craig Edelman W’95 and Rashid Garbadawala W’96, Bolten covered more than 14,000 miles in 37 days. Having earned an MBA from Duke University in May, he plans to satisfy his interest in baseball with a career in collegiate sports management.
