In December, Robert A. Fox C’52 and Penny Grossman Fox Ed’53 gave $10 million to endow and expand the Robert A. Fox Leadership Program in Penn’s School of Arts and Sciences (SAS).  Established in 1999, the program combines coursework, civic service, and campus events featuring leaders in fields ranging from politics and business to science and fine arts.  It also sponsors three endowed professorships, and for the past several years has run a major part of the largest university-based initiative for relief from Hurricane Katrina, supporting over 250 student volunteers in the Gulf Coast region.

All told, the Foxes have now given more than $23 million to sustain the program.  “Bob and Penny Fox’s foresight and generosity,” said SAS Dean Rebecca Bushnell, “have enabled the School of Arts and Sciences to offer its students essential leadership experiences that bridge the gaps between academia and the broader community.”
