On March 9, a four-alarm fire gutted the former Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church at 33rd and Chestnut Streets, just five months before it was scheduled to reopen as the Charles Addams Fine Arts Hall. The fire was caused by temporary wiring in the 113-year-old building. The University intends to build a new facility on the site, though it may preserve part of the facade.
