Former Florida governor and 2016 Republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush has been named a Presidential Professor of Practice for the 2018-2019 school year. Bush, who has robust experience in education and immigration reform, public service, and crisis management, will be a regular fixture on campus, engaging in lectures, seminars, and campus-wide events on a monthly basis. Noted for his leadership during the intensely damaging 2004-2005 hurricane season, Bush espouses a humanitarian style of politics. He has served as chair of the board of trustees at the National Constitution Center, and is the current chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education, a nonprofit education reform organization. Bush will be affiliated with the Andrea Mitchell Center for the Study of Democracy in the School of Arts and Sciences, where he will, in his own words, “foster civic discourse on the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing our country.”
